Michael Shuman is the Co-Managing Partner of 4food LLC, Co-Developer, and its Architect.

Michael is the founder and principal of MASdesign, an interdisciplinary design/build collaborative which he formed in 2001, whose accessible, socially meaningful, and culturally relevant work is well documented. In 2004 Michael received a design distinction award from the ID Annual Design Review for his groundbreaking design work for StoryCorps, a national oral history project that provides Americans of all backgrounds with the opportunity to record, share, and preserve their life-stories. The StoryCorp project involved the creation of various mobile and stationary studio solutions built around common functionality.

In addition to the above Michael serves as a Director of StoryCorps, which in 2007 received an institutional Peabody Award - the highest honor in broadcast journalism. Since 2003, StoryCorps has collected and archived more than 30,000 interviews from more than 60,000 participants.

Michael is also a founding board member of Publicolor, a celebrated non-profit organization which engages communities through the use of color and collaboration to revitalize their neighborhood schools and surrounding public service facilities, thus re-engaging youths in their education and neighbors with their neighborhoods.

Michael lives and works in New York City with his wife, son, and many pets.
