One of the most anticipated presentations at The ME* Conference is the Economist's Media Forecast. We're all looking for guidance and the minds at the Economist are going to let us know what to expect. But to supplement their prediction, we're looking to you. Yes, you. We know our readers are down in the trenches every day, working tirelessly, researching, executing, strategizing and observing hidden trends that others don't see. This is why we want to offer one of our readers the chance to share those insights at The ME* Conference.
Ad Age is officially opening the call for submissions—What's your boldest, most innovative prediction as to how the media landscape will unfold over the next year? What do you know that no one else does? What trends have you seen that others haven't?
Once our editors sift through the submissions, we'll post the most ingenious projections on our site, where readers can vote on their favorite. Ad Age editors will also pick one of you to deliver your media prediction in a 10 minute speaking slot at The ME* Conference.
What we need from you:
- A 1-2 minute video presentation of you delivering your predication. This should essentially be an abbreviated version of what you'd present at the conference.
- A complete entry form, including:
- A written summery of your prediction, the thinking and rationale that lead you to reach this conclusion, and what lesson our audience will glean from it. Two paragraphs at most.
- Your professional bio and employment status.
Some Guidelines
- Be Specific - Pick one or two ideas, at most and carefully explain what lead you to there.
- Leverage your niche - The perspective of those working for a publication will undoubtedly be different that those of individuals at media agencies or working in house. Use that to your advantage. Draw on personal experience and the trends, successes, and failures, you've witnessed in the line of duty and let that inform your prediction.
- Tap your community - Are you a blogger? Maybe your readers have some helpful thoughts they'd share with you. Are you an exec at a small agency? Have colleagues and coworkers help refine your idea to its purest form. And don't forget to ask them to vote, if you see your prediction up on the site.
- Tweet it out - If you plan on using twitter to promote your prediction and drive votes, use the hashtag #MECONF, maybe you'll even get a retweet from @Adage.
